Getting started
What is Backseat?+
Backseat is a free fantasy companion for professional League of Legends. You build a squad of real pros, compete in public or private leagues and score from verified match results.
Do I need to pay to play?+
No. The core fantasy game is free to play. Backseat does not use paid entry, staking, cash betting or gambling mechanics.
Does one squad cover the whole season?+
Each competition has its own player pool, prices, deadlines and history. Your Backseat profile connects those campaigns into one season record.
How do I build a valid squad?+
Classic squads use one starter in each of the five roles, two substitutes, a published credit budget and competition-specific team or region limits.
Squads, deadlines and transfers
When does my squad lock?+
Every fantasy window publishes its own lock time. Changes saved before that deadline apply to the window; later changes wait for the next one.
What happens when one of my players is eliminated?+
The player becomes OUT, keeps their exit value and creates a repair transfer when the elimination makes your squad invalid. You can repair the slot before the next stage lock without a forced points penalty.
What do substitutes do?+
An eligible substitute can cover a starter who records no appearance, subject to the published role and squad-validity rules for that competition.
Can I plan transfers in advance?+
Yes. The planner lets you compare future fixtures, prices, survival odds and squad legality before committing to a move.
Scoring and player prices
How are fantasy points calculated?+
Points come from visible match statistics such as kills, assists, deaths, CS, team wins and bracket advancement. Role balance, series normalization, captain multipliers and transfer costs are stored as separate receipt lines.
Why are series normalized?+
A longer series should not automatically outscore a sweep just because more games were played. Backseat normalizes game output to the advertised series format, then adds explicit advancement bonuses separately.
How does a player's price change?+
Price movement combines role-relative performance, future opportunity, starter likelihood, fixture difficulty, bracket survival and role scarcity. Ownership does not move the market, and weekly changes are capped.
Can finalized scores change?+
Only through an audited correction. The correction ledger records the affected competition, reason and recalculation instead of silently rewriting history.
Leagues and formats
How do I create a private league?+
Create a league, choose its competition and format, then share the invite link or join code with friends. A squad can enter more than one compatible classic leaderboard.
What is the difference between Classic and Draft?+
Classic managers can own the same pro and compete through budget decisions. Draft creates scarcity: each pro belongs to one manager in that league.
Can I join more than one league?+
Yes. You can enter multiple compatible leagues and competitions from the same account. Each competition keeps its own squad and history.
What gets shared in a recap?+
Final scores, rank movement, weekly awards, captain calls and rivalry results become a shareable recap for Discord, WhatsApp or the group chat.
Data, media and account trust
Where does Backseat's match data come from?+
Every imported result carries source, import and review metadata. Live competitions open only after dates, format, rosters and player values pass the product's readiness checks.
Are the player photos and organisation marks official endorsements?+
No. Reviewed local assets are used to identify the real people and organisations shown. Their source and licence are recorded publicly, and no appearance implies endorsement of Backseat.
Is Backseat affiliated with Riot Games?+
No. Backseat is an independent fantasy product and includes Riot's required community-product disclaimer. Riot Games and League of Legends remain Riot trademarks.
Can I export or delete my account?+
Yes. Account controls support data export and deletion. Privacy and terms pages explain what is stored and how operational records are handled.
